Leukaemia is a malignant disease of the blood. Current treatments for leukaemia are associated with serious side-effects. Plant-derived polyphenols have been identified as potent anti-cancer agents and shown to work synergistically standard chemotherapy in cell lines. Polyphenols multiple mechanisms action reported decrease proliferation, arrest cycle induce apoptosis via activation caspase (3, 8 9); loss mitochondrial membrane potential release cytochrome c. suppress transcription factors, including NF-kB STAT3. Furthermore, pro-oxidant properties, increasing evidence that inhibit antioxidant activity glutathione, causing oxidative DNA damage. also autophagy-driven cancer death regulate multidrug resistance proteins, thus may be able reverse agents. This review examines molecular mechanism discusses their therapeutic targets. Here, we discuss pharmacological properties polyphenols, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-proliferative, anti-tumour activities, suggest natural can useful therapeutically; why data on bioavailability, toxicity metabolism essential evaluate clinical use.
